Hardworking cardstock tags

Cardstock tags are among the most commonly used custom tags in the United States, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has very particular regulations when it comes to tag use in the workplace. Below are the regulations that OSHA states, with various subcategories.

Danger Tags
Although we're have no idea what "charm" means in this context, we do know to be careful around the equipment this tag appears on.

Tag Use

OSHA states that tags should be used in order to prevent injury or the development of illness when workers are subject to hazardous materials, dangerous conditions, or general operations that exceed the physical requirements of a typical 9-to-5 office job. Tags are to be used until the hazard has been completely eliminated, or the operation causing a change of pace in the workplace has been completed. OSHA also states that if there is signage designating a hazardous area, there need not be an additional tag to deliver the same message.

General Tag Criteria

Signal word and major message
All workplace tags are supposed to contain a signal word and a major message. Some examples of signal words are “Biological Hazard,” “Caution,” or “Danger.” The major message, in turn, is an extrapolation of that signal word, replicas relojes detailing the particular reason for the caution or danger and/or the types of materials being used on site causing a biological hazard.

The signal word, according to OSHA, should be legible from at least five feet or more, depending on the severity and size of the danger zone. The tag should have pictures, text, or both – all of which should be clearly legible and visible from a significant distance pertaining to the breadth of the hazard.

Employee Updates

In addition to having clearly marked tags throughout a dangerous area, OSHA states that there should also be an exchange of information regarding the existence of the tags. Word of mouth can help reinforce tags and signs’ messages, but custom tags should be used as an added precaution to ensure that workers are fully aware of the location of hazards in a work zone.

Types of Workplace Tags

Danger Tags

Danger tags suggest immediate hazards where death or very serious injury is the consequence of trespassing in the designated area. Only if the hazard is extremely pertinent should danger tags be employed.

Caution Tags

Caution tags are a less severe iteration of danger tags, designating non-immediate or potential hazards or unsafe practice/threat of employee injury.

Warning Tags

Warning tags have a level of immediacy that comes between danger and caution tags. Warning tags present a major message. Danger, caution, and warning signs are to meet the visibility criteria previously outlined in this section.
